Rajvir Bal Isn’t Seeing It With Mykel Williams
First Round Mock NFL Draft Analyst Rajvir Bal watched three games of Georgia Edge defender Mykel Williams and walked away unimpressed.

Georgia Edge Mykel Williams is supposed to be a big deal in the 2025 NFL Draft.
He’s been hailed as an explosive athlete and someone who has sky-potential.
Bottom line ⎯
I’m not seeing it.
Background
Williams was a 5-star recruit before committing to Georgia in October 2021 (247Sports).
2023:
13 games, 18 tackles (11 solo), 4.5 sacks, 7 tackles for loss, 2 passes defended, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery
2024:
12 games, 21 tackles (15 solo), 5 sacks, 9 tackles for loss, 2 passes defended 2 forced fumbles
#13 Mykel Williams 6-foot-5, 265 pounds
Rajvir Bal’s 2025 NFL Draft Grade: Third-Round (I wouldn’t select him)
Projected by 89.6% of the NFL Draft Community to be a first-round pick as of March 12, 2024 (nflmockdraftdatabase.com)

Uninspiring on Film
That’s how Williams struck me.
It’s a harsh way of putting it, but that’s the I way I feel. He was soft and he just muddled around on the field. Said another way, it didn’t look like he wanted to be out there. Williams did not look like a high-effort player in these games. It was disappointing to watch.
His first step was poor, and that offset his athleticism. All of his traits became severely hindered by the fact he didn’t seem willing to give the extra.
Don’t take my word for it ⎯just look at his 9.5 sacks in two years and he’s thought of as a top-15 pick? Yikes. By comparison, his teammate Walker had 11.5 sacks during that same time, but he lined up at linebacker (not edge).
Is There Upside?
Sure, there’s upside.
Williams is a good athlete. Good, but not great. He has above-average pursuit speed, and has good short area quickness, It’s impressive, but it doesn’t blow me away. This prospect is strong and he can be a bully when he wants to be, but he’s not aggressive enough 100% of the time.
He’s a decent run stuffer, and constantly makes tackles while engaged in blocks.
Williams also has active hands he uses when pass-rushing or defending against the run.
Count Me Out
This prospect doesn’t warrant a pick in the first two rounds, and even then I would be very hesitant to take him.
He’s just not effective enough to be a franchise player.
Ten Adjective
Uninspired. Soft. Overhyped. Passive. Athletic. Underwhelming. Inconsistent. Quick. Unmotivated. Mediocre.
NFL Crystal Ball

New Orleans Saints
Cincinnati Bengals
Atlanta Falcons
Pro Comp: Taco Charlton
From 2017-2022 Charlton played in the NFL for five different teams and he logged 11.5 career sacks during that period. Charlton was selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.
Final Words
Mykel Williams is one of the most overhyped players in this year’s draft class.
Rajvir Bal is a high school student from the Virginia area. He grew up a rabid Washington Redskins fan, attending more than 30 games, and has enjoyed the team’s high points and low points throughout his life. He plays varsity football and basketball. Rajvir has taken an interest in the NFL Draft since middle school when his team picked Montez Sweat and Dwayne Haskins in the first round. His favorite NFL player ever flips between Rob Gronkowski and Brett Favre, and his favorite athlete is LeBron James. He has been writing his own scouting reports since 2020, and is excited for the opportunities FirstRoundMock provides.
