Spencer Rattler Impresses With Latest NIL Deal Involving Fans
Spencer Rattler has combined some of the best off-the-field aspects of being a college football player with his latest event. Not only did the South Carolina quarterback host a meet and greet earlier this summer, but Rattler also managed to merge the appearance with a local car wash to raise money. Plus, thanks to Name, Image, and Likeness rules, Rattler was compensated for the event.
The meet and greet/car wash was held Saturday, June 18 at Tommy’s Express Car Wash at their Columbia, South Carolina location. Tommy’s Express Car Wash has over 150 locations throughout 36 states in the U.S.
The event was sponsored by Park Avenue, a subsidiary of Everett Sports Management. Park Ave is an initiative that provides NIL opportunities for South Carolina athletes.
At the car wash, Rattler took the time to talk to fans, sign autographs, and snap photos with Gamecocks fans. The 22-year-old even answered questions from a trio of pre-teen boys for their podcast.
“They asked some tough questions,” Rattler joked.
What was Rattler’s objective with the event?
John Brenkus from the popular sports program, ‘The NIL House’ commented on the deal making a solid point about Rattler’s personality. Noting his willingness to participate in the event, Brenkus says, “I feel like if you are willing to do a deal for a car wash, what deal are you not willing to do?”
Others may see the gathering as a way for Rattler to endorse his brand deal with Dick Dyer Mercedes-Benz. WACH mentions him getting a wash in a Mercedes before he sat down to spend personal time with the fans.
Whatever Rattler’s intentions were, though, the Gamecock undoubtedly showed up for one main reason – the fans. The QB specifically talked about this with News19 reporter, Chandler Mack.
“It’s just great out here, true genuine love for the team, for the players,” Rattler says. “We’re all grateful for the fans so we always wanna give back and do something for them once in a while. It’s a blessing having fans support you in and out and always coming to your events you put on for Columbia.”
Rattler gave his X (formerly known as Twitter) followers details of the event. “Come hang with me Saturday at Tommy’s Express Carwash,” Rattler tweeted. “Excited to see y’all.”
The QB has 100,000+ followers on the social media platform. This isn’t his most relevant app, though. Rattler also has over 350,000 Instagram followers and his TikTok account currently surpasses 115,000 fans following the star. Clearly, the Gamecock has a lot of influence, not just on the field.
A supportive teammate, not just a star
At the meet and greet, Rattler also mentioned the team’s progress leading up to the 2023 season.
“We’re just lining this up for the season, so, we’ve had a great summer so far…great workouts, throwing sessions. Fans will be happy with what they see on the field,” Rattler said Saturday to NEWS19 WLTX.
“As a group, we look great. We’re still putting things together with the new offense, but feel like we’ve mastered it pretty well and are just making it better and better each day. The vibes are high.” Rattler noted.
Spencer Rattler is unquestionably someone to look out for in the 2023 season. Be sure to keep an eye out for any other positive or considerate acts from this quarterback. With his athleticism and personality, Rattler has the potential to be a real threat as a 2024 draft prospect.
