Travis Hunter Gives Back to Children’s Hospital Colorado
Many fans know the name Travis Hunter as one of the best NFL prospects in college football. However, most people don’t know about the Colorado Buffalo’s charitable side and how he supports his community.
In January, Hunter visited the Children’s Hospital Colorado to spread some smiles.
He posed for photos with the kids, autographed memorabilia for them, and overall, helped brighten their day.
He was even swarmed at one point by a crowd of kids asking for his autograph, showing just how much they look up to him.
“Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter is the biggest star in College Football since Reggie Bush,” one X user wrote. “It’s one thing for adults to drool over you but when the kids recognize and want to be like you. You’ve earned the Superhero status!”
Hunter’s considerable contribution
He also delivered a very generous gift to the hospital during his visit. The 20-year-old participated in 7-Eleven and The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ first annual “Cleat Crew” project during the past few months along with players like former Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., former Oregon quarterback (QB) Bo Nix, Texas QB Quinn Ewers, and more college football players.
Each player teamed up with The Shoe Surgeon to design a custom pair of cleats to be auctioned off. The proceeds went to any Children’s Miracle Network Hospital of their choosing. Hunter’s cleats sold for $10,620. Altogether, the athletes raised $115,570.
“Proud to be part of Cleat Crew this season and raise $10,620 for Children’s Hospital Colorado!,” Hunter captioned an Instagram post.
President and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Aimee Daily commented on the project, showing her gratitude.
“Through the innovative Cleat Crew fundraising campaign, 7-Eleven has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to supporting children’s health,” Daily said. “Our gratitude to each Cleat Crew athlete and 7-Eleven underscores the profound impact these funds will have in providing critical medical services, groundbreaking research, and support for families facing health challenges.”
Hunter’s growing influence
Having someone as prominent as Travis Hunter support your organization is undoubtedly beneficial. He is already predicted to be a first-round pick by sites like 247 Sports and CBS. Part of the reason is because he doesn’t just offer athleticism or heart, he also knows how to market himself.
CEO of Business of College Sports, Kristi Dosh stated that even when injured, Hunter is still in demand.
“What’s remarkable about him (Hunter) — and I think it’s because he puts up so much off-the-field content — is that when he got hurt earlier in the season no one I spoke with thought the weeks off the field were going to ding his NIL opportunities at all. The strength of his brand and following were built just on football,” Dosh said.
Fans still have an entire year before they find out where Hunter will land. However, barring any injuries or scandals, there is a solid chance he will be one of the next all-around NFL athletes. Keep an eye on this prospect as he is sure to do some exciting things throughout the next year.
