Blake Corum Has His Eye on Real Estate

Michigan running back Blake Corum has officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft! However, he isn’t just interested in playing football.

The 23-year-old is known for several Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals with companies like Bose, Subway, Peloton, and more. Several other off-field projects of his have also gained attention including his annual toy drive, Thanksgiving turkey giveaway, and summer football camps. Aside from these activities, though, Corum has taken up an interesting hobby.

Big business moves

This past summer, the Wolverine shared that he has begun flipping houses. He also talked about how his school is helping him prepare for the future.

“I’ve been up to some business moves as well. My first house that I bought a couple months ago (with) my dad just hit the market,” Corum said. “So we’re flipping houses now. I’m into real estate stuff like that, so now I’m trying to find that next move and eventually build an empire.”

Corum said that he even hopes to develop his hobby into something bigger. He shared with MLive that he would like to “turn the sale into more,” noting ideas of multi-family houses and apartment complexes, not just houses.

He says he is most inspired by his parents when it comes to his endeavors, noting that they are very hardworking.

“What motivates me to be entrepreneurial is really like just growing up seeing my dad and my mom start a business from nothing and turning it into something,” Corum said to The 33rd Team. “So that’s why I’m doing business with my dad and also doing some business with other people as well. Because my dad was in real estate for quite a while, just watching him through ups and downs. Real estate can be good and also can be bad at times.”

Not only is he thankful for his parents, though. He added that the University of Michigan is partially responsible for his entrepreneurial spirit.

How Corum is taking advantage of his resources

Corum hints that he isn’t set on one thing. Instead, the running back is taking advantage of those he is surrounded by at Michigan.

It’s really just to learn. Learn from like a bunch of alumni,” Corum stated in the same interview with The 33rd Team. “I go to one of the greatest universities — in my opinion, the greatest university in the world. So, I just try to reach out and learn from the other people that are doing it and that’s what I’m doing. I’m just trying to be a sponge to soak everything up from these alumni that are in the game and super successful. Just put it in my toolbox, take it back and build my own.”

“Setting myself up for the future,” Corum said to MLive. “That’s what Michigan is about — setting their college graduates up. That’s not my only investment, but it’s something that I love. I’ve always been interested in real estate.”

A multi-faceted future?

According to his official website, Corum sees his future as incorporating several of his interests. He says he would like his life after football to include his entrepreneurial skills and philanthropy interests. He even notes he might like to get into sports broadcasting in the future.

Who knows where the running back will end up?
