Jayden Daniels Spends Birthday Serving Those in Need

Jayden Daniels is currently one of the most famous college football players in his draft class. Plus, with his recent Heisman Trophy win, the LSU quarterback (QB) is even more prominent. Because of this, many would assume that he would dedicate his birthday to celebrating this win.

Instead, Daniels spent the day supporting a group of children in need of some extra holiday love.

On December 18, (Daniels’ 23rd birthday), the QB met with Raising Cane’s CEO, Todd Graves to donate 100 bikes and helmets to the Boys and Girls Club and Big Buddy of Baton Rouge.

The Boys and Girls Clubs are located throughout America and are dedicated to providing safe places for kids to thrive. They also offer engaging programs and activities while having staff that motivates and guides its kids. 

Big Buddy is a mentor program with a goal of inspiring youth to create meaningful change.

The bike giveaway is an annual tradition for Raising Cane’s. Daniels recently inked a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal with the fast food chain. He even joined fellow Heisman finalists, Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. and Oregon QB Bo Nix in working a shift at the restaurant’s flagship store in New York on Friday, December 8.

Graves also shared one of the main reasons he holds the giveaway each year. 

“Growing up, I received a bike every year for Christmas, and it was one of the most impactful memories of my childhood,” Graves stated. “I remember the joy and excitement it brought me back then – and still does today as this tradition has continued into adulthood – and I want to recreate that same special moment for youth in need across the country.”

In addition to the bike donations, Graves and Raising Cane’s handed Daniels a $25,000 check to give to the Greg Brooks Jr. Victory Fund. Brooks, a safety for LSU, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer. The Victory Fund is committed to assisting with medical expenses.

“Something that I always wanted to do is to just give back,” Daniels said. “Growing up, I always wanted to be a role model and inspiration, so coming out here and giving back to the community and also being able to raise money for my best friend, Greg Brooks, and everything he is going through. I’m just happy to be here, blessing others.”

Daniels also acknowledged his school.

“I gave college football everything I had, especially at LSU,” Daniels said according to On3. “I poured my heart into this university. I’m excited as the future moves on for my next journey and adventure, but I just love being here. I love building relationships in college football. Those are the times you don’t get back.”

Daniels continues to display traits of a down-to-earth individual. Most 23-year-olds would spend the day with friends and family celebrating, especially if they just received a once-in-a-lifetime award. Instead, Daniels is undoubtedly proving that he is a role model and a player who understands the importance of helping out, even when he isn’t expected to.
