Left Tackle Jordan Seaton Plays Fast

That’s what stood out to me while watching LSU transfer left tackle Jordan Seaton on his 2025 game film when he played for Colorado.

He’s fast.

He’s the fastest left tackle I’ve ever evaluated.

DOMINANT IN PASS PROTECTION

SO-SO RUN BLOCKING

That’s only because Seaton sometimes lets his foot off the gas on running plays.

It’s not due to a lack of ability.

How do I know that?

Because he showed it on film⎯

At times, Seaton drove out defenders like he was a snowplow, or pancaked them into the turf.

He’s just inconsistent.

I’m not the only one who was seeing him being better in pass protection than run blocking in 2025.

Per Pro Football Focus (PFF):

• 84.1 pass-blocking grade
• 52.0 run-blocking grade

Tell me about Seaton in pass protection

He looked special.

• Athletic frame
• Long arms
• Flashes lightning fast first-step
• Twitchy
• Good hand usage
• Solid anchor

Pass rushers had a hard time going around or through him.

And they tried just about everything.

Seaton responded by doing a great job of walling off the perimeter of the pocket.

Come to think of it⎯

I don’t recall seeing Seaton getting beat through the back door.

Granted, there were a couple of reps when he set up too shallow in the pocket, and as a result, he had to stop sliding out laterally and instead had to turn and run the pass rusher out, but he was still able to handle it.

There were also a couple of times a pass rusher was able to get high into Seaton’s pad level, and they were able to bull rush him a little. He gave up some ground, but still, he recovered and was able to hunker down.

Seaton gave up two sacks, five hurries, and seven pressures in the nine games he played during the 2025 season (PFF: 328 pass-blocking reps).

Did any game stand out more than the rest?

Yes⎯

The Utah game.

He seemed most “challenged,” and he rose to the occasion. He played even faster, and that’s when the names Willie Roaf and Jackie Slater started going through my mind as I watched Seaton play. Roaf and Slater are two Hall of Fame left tackles who played back in the day.

Seaton made a couple of run blocks that caused me to raise my eyebrows. He drove out defenders with dominant authority.

I was like, okay…

Okay Seaton…

Okay…

Yeah…

Think I figured it out…

The benefit of studying every snap in a season is that it provides context.

With that said⎯

At first, I thought Seaton had an issue with becoming too complacent at times. But after studying his film, I don’t think that’s it.

I think he was playing to the level of his competition. I think he got a “little bored” at times. He looked like a man among boys.

No doubt⎯

Seaton has that look.

I’m excited to circle back in the spring of 2027 to confirm my suspicions when he plays LSU’s 2026 schedule, which promises to be “more challenging” for him.

Dominant. Energetic. Aggressive streak. Does a good job staying off the ground. This minimizes his future injury risk. Alert. Ready, active, quick, strong, and punchy hands in pass pro. Violent. Above average at maintaining his base on the perimeter. Athletic feet. Handled stunts. Works well in concert with other linemen (double teams and combo blocks). Nice inward blocks on outside screens. Excels at run blocking with leverage—inconsistent sustain. Great in space. Looked fast pulling on run blocks.

What to watch for during the 2026 college football season

1. Consistently maintaining control in pass protection by sliding his feet?

2. Complacency?

3. How does he look at run blocking?
