Former NFL Scout Loves Zachariah Branch

Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch is a baller.
I said what I said.
I repeat.
Branch is a baller.
He’s a threat to take it to the house every time he gets his hands on the ball. Just get the ball to him and get him into space.
People seem so hung up on what Branch is not that they have a hard time seeing what he is.
Not me.
Elite physical traits that show up on film consistently
Traits…traits…traits…
That’s all we hear about.
But it’s not just about traits to me.
It’s about those traits showing up consistently on film, and with Branch, they do.
- Fast 💨
- Burst
- Sudden movements
Point blank ⎯
Branch is electric.
Grading his route running, catch radius, and hands
Route running: B
Catch radius: C
Hands: A+
Branch’s route running looks pretty good. I love how he looks at route breakpoints. He has quick, choppy, quiet feet that can ‘cut on a dime and leave someone five cents change’, as they like to say in the game. Branch wins at the break point. My biggest criticism of Branch’s route running is that sometimes, especially earlier in the season, it did not seem like he was getting enough depth on some of his routes.
Sure, he catches a lot of screen passes. But, he’s a lot more than that. He looked good running routes at the intermediate route level (10-19 yards), and yes, he can also blow past a defense deep (however, they didn’t do much of that with him this past season).
His catch radius is like I graded it, so-so, and I feel he jumps for passes sometimes when he doesn’t have to.
His hands ⎯
Oh yeah. Those dependable hands.
2025:
- 81 catches
- 102 targets
- 79.4% catch rate
YAC
*Stands for ‘yards after catch.’
And it’s something Branch REALLY excels at, hence all the screen passes. This bodes well in the NFL, where much of the offensive play scripting is at the short (0-9) to intermediate route levels.
How good is Branch at YAC?
Per Pro Football Focus (PFF), Branch put up the sixth most YAC in the NCAA in 2025 (533 yards). PFF stated he had a 7.8-yard YAC average.
He’s determined, elusive, and he has good contact balance. It’s nothing for him to make the first defender miss, and sometimes two or more defenders miss on any given catch.
Tough cookie
This is another cool thing about Branch ⎯
Branch may be ‘small,’ but he’s mighty. There’s absolutely no ‘back down’ in him.
He’ll mix it up with cornerbacks when he’s running routes, and he is a decent blocker on running plays.
NFL thoughts
Branch is a legit receiver prospect, and his route running looks precise most of the time. He also does a pretty good job setting up cornerbacks to create separation.
This catch against Ole Miss was the cherry on top of his game film for me.

2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Explosive. Versatile. Game-changing ability. Slippery. Instinctual. Energetic. Competitive. No fear. Mostly in the slot, but also can line up out wide or in the backfield. They motioned him a lot pre-snap to win extra space for him. Sports car acceleration. Crisp and sharp change of direction when running routes. Darting route runner. Destroys off-man and zone coverage. Tends to catch with his hands. Can adjust to the ball. On the same page as his quarterback. Gets fired up. Upside also as a return specialist. A little too hesitant returning punts.
Final Words
Branch is lightning in a bottle.
