Shedeur Sanders Releases Second Song “Life”

Reading Time: 2 minutes

As he prepares for his first NFL season, Shedeur Sanders isn’t just sharpening his athletic skills on the field ⎯the former Colorado quarterback (QB) is also continuing to build his career as a rapper.

Earlier this month, Sanders dropped a teaser of the song and music video on his Instagram. The song is titled, “Life” and features Que and Junior.

The full music video can be found here. It has not been revealed whether the song will also be available on streaming platforms other than YouTube.

Round Two

This isn’t the first time Sanders has released a rap song. In May, Sanders released his first song, “Perfect Timing.”

While some fans may enjoy the song, some voiced negative opinions.

Things look a little bit different this time around, though. Fans seem much more excited by the song and the idea that Sanders is advancing not just his football career, but his path as a musician, as well.

“The music, it’s just based off how you feel at the time, you know what I mean?,” Sanders recently said on his podcast, 2Legendary. “I don’t care who likes the music [and] who don’t like the music. It’s just a way to express yourself and to just get it out.”

He added that not everyone understands that football is only part of his life, and that it’s normal for him to have hobbies outside of the season.

“Football time only lasts so long and that’s what people just don’t understand. You got your workouts, you got your mental training, you got everything. Then, when it’s time to be a human or a person, then what do you do? Some people indulge in bad activities. I don’t do that so I feel like being at home [and] making music and stuff like that… there should be nothing wrong with that,” Sanders said on his podcast.

A Sanders family matter

It’s not surprising that Sanders has ventured into the music business. His father, former NFL player, Deion Sanders, also explored a career as a rapper. He recorded an album (Prime Time) and two singles (“Must Be the Money” and “Prime Time Keeps on Tickin‘”) during his time in the league.

Sanders appears to be taking after his father’s entrepreneurial spirit as the 23-year-old boasts an NIL valuation of over $6 million.

He also contributed 14,327 passing yards and 134 touchdowns in his time with Jackson State and Colorado.

Sanders’ well-roundedness has granted him a significant amount of attention leading up to the draft. He is rumored to have scheduled visits with the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns before then.

And before you wonder if coaches may view Sanders’ activities as a distraction, the quarterback doesn’t seem too concerned.

He shared on his recent podcast episode that he’s talked about his music career with several NFL GMs (general managers). He says they don’t particularly care that he pursues music alongside football and that they don’t understand why people view it so negatively.

It’s just a fun thing to do,” Sanders says.
