Dominant Bully Mykel Williams Crashes His Way Into The Top 10

Bully ball.
I love that term and it describes Georgia Edge Mykel Williams.
I mean just take a look at him in that picture.
They double-teamed him.
They even triple-teamed him.
Doesn’t matter.
Williams ripped through that much man with a holy vengeance on his way to the quarterback. HE WOULD NOT BE DENIED.
Few things turn me on more as an evaluator than defensive dominance.
Mean. Violent. Quarterback minded.
These are the words I’m using to describe Williams, the man who makes names like Richard Dent and Myles Garrett go through my mind when I’m watching his film. Dent played for Chicago back in the day and is one of the top sack artists on the NFL’s all-time sack leaderboard. Garrett has played for the Browns since 2017 and isn’t far behind at 102.5 sacks and counting.
That’s some pretty good company.
Tell me more about Williams
“BMOC” ⎯stands for “big man on campus.”
This describes what I witnessed on film when I evaluated every single snap Williams participated in during the 2024 season. It also was a saying my dad liked to use, God rest his soul.
I was on the fence with Williams heading into the season and had a second-round grade on his 2023 game film, but he answered almost all of those lingering questions.
It’s like he went into beast mode or something.
Wow.
What did Williams look like on game film in 2024?
He looked flat-out unblockable at times.
Williams combines elite brute power with elite athleticism to make his presence felt.
Rare ability.
When the switch is flipped in Williams he looks like a hyperactive wrecking ball in Georgia’s defensive line rotation. He also dealt with a nagging ankle injury this season playing in 402 defensive snaps per Pro Football Focus (PFF). According to dawgnation.com, Williams played in only 42 snaps in five of Georgia’s games. PFF did not show any stats for Williams in games 2, 3, 4 and 9. Despite dealing with that injury, Williams still managed to log 5 sacks, 6 quarterback hits, 15 quarterback hurries, and 2 batted passes.
Can he get complacent at times?
Yes.
That was also one of my main grievances with him on his 2023 film.
However, to his credit, he hit the gas more this season and ran through blockers with the force of a bull running through a red cape.
One of the most impressive things about him is his ability to make the quick adjustments in the pocket that are necessary to close the deal.
Impressive for a man his size.
Just as serious about the run
Williams isn’t just a pass rusher either. No, he’s a three-down defender who does whatever it takes to get to running backs with the same fervor with which he attacks quarterbacks.
2024:
21 tackles (15 solo).
Even more impressively ⎯9 tackles for loss.
NFL projection
Williams is a franchise player.
I like him best as a 4-3 defensive end (four defensive linemen and three linebackers) who often plays with his hand down in the dirt but can also line up standing up off the edges.
He can even drop into short-range pass coverages.

Final words
