Everything To Know About EA Sports College Football 25

Reading Time: 3 minutes

It’s officially time! With a new incoming college football season also comes a new roster for the EA Sports College Football video game. Here are some details about the new version.

The game isn’t officially available until July 19. However, there has been a considerable amount of buzz between fans, players, and sports networks.

How does the game work?

All fans need to play is a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X|S.

There are reportedly four modes fans can play in the 25 edition. Making a return appearance are Road to Glory and Dynasty. College Football Ultimate Team will also be available plus an all-new Road to the College Football Playoffs mode.

Traditions such as Alabama and Pittsburgh’s turnover celebrations, Notre Dame’s ‘Play like a Champion Today’ sign, and LSU’s win bar are all rumored to be included.

Game users will also be able to sign Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals, according to USA TODAY.

The game isn’t officially available for another few weeks, but fans can pre-order now.

What players are included in this series?

As usual, the series will include some of the biggest names in college football including the following.

Cornerback Travis Hunter, Colorado

QB Quinn Ewers, Texas

Running back (RB) Donovan Edwards and defensive back (DB) Will Johnson, Michigan

QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

RB Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State

QB Jalen Milroe and DB Malachi Moore, Alabama

RB Nick Singleton, Penn State

Prominent media personalities like Kevin Connors, Rece Davis, and more will also be included in the game, the Athletic reports.

The game will feature all 134 Football Bowl Subdivision schools. It’s not clear how many players will be part of the game, but EA Sports has offered contracts to upwards of 11,000 players, Video Game Chronicles reports.

Travis Hunter was one of the first players asked to be on the cover of the game (a highly regarded honor in the football and gaming community). He was legally obligated to keep the deal a secret for a while but finally noted his excitement in getting to be a part of the game.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that I wanted to be on the cover, so I just went straight to work and did everything they told me I needed to do,” Hunter said.

Past athletes to grace the cover include USC’s Reggie Bush, Michigan’s Desmond Howard, Pittsburgh’s Larry Fitzgerald, Florida’s Tim Tebow, and Baylor’s Robert Griffin III.

Why is there so much buzz regarding the game?

The last edition of the game was released over a decade ago. This makes the 25 version an especially exhilarating addition to the 2024 season.

The game stopped being produced in 2013 after a legal battle between former UCLA star basketball player Ed O’Bannon and EA Sports. O’Bannon led an antitrust class-action lawsuit against the NCAA and EA Sports due to the game’s wrongful use of players’ “numbers, skill sets and general appearances of players without compensating them.”

In 2021, after NIL rules were instituted, the game creators got back to work. For the 25 version, each player will be paid $600. This may seem like only a small amount of compensation. However, fans must consider the substantial amount of players that are part of the game.

Hopefully, the 25 edition will result in zero lawsuits.
