Standouts:
Jacob Cowing, WR, Arizona: 5’8″ – 165 Pounds – 29 2/8″ Arms – 69 2/8″ Wing
Showed off his one-handed skills
Before his final day ended with him walking off the field with an injury, he showcased his true skill set. Instantly created separation off his routes and displayed his ball-tracking skills with an impressive catch.
Notable Rep:
Javon Baker, WR, UCF: 6’1″ – 208 Pounds – 31 5/8″ – 78″ Wing
All-around impressive
Baker showed off his ball tracking and body control during his 1v1 contested catch against Virginia State cornerback Willie Drew. He also displayed good speed off the line of scrimmage, creating consistent separation throughout the day.
Notable Rep:
Luke McCaffery, WR, Rice: 6’1″ – 202 Pounds – 29 7/8″ Arms – 74 5/8″ Wing
Showcased his impressive separation skills
McCaffery once again demonstrated his ability to get open for his quarterback. He was a smooth and consistent route runner with excellent body control throughout the day.
Notable Rep:
Jackson Sirmon, LB, California: 6’2″ – 235 Pounds – 30 3/8″ Arms – 74 2/8″ Wing
Good read-and-react ability.
Sirmon showcased his traits in zone coverage. This California defender picked off Tennessee QB Joe Milton in the red zone and almost had another in 7v7 with a pass breakup.
Notable Rep:
Christian Jones, OT, Texas: 6’5″ – 318 Pounds – 34 7/8″ Arms – 83 7/8″ Wing
Came on strong for Day 3
Displayed good balance off the snap and quickness out of his stance. In pass pro, he was able to lockdown his rushers with his strong initial punches and footwork.
Notable Rep:
Under-Performers:
Kalen King, CB, Penn State: 5’11” – 189 Pounds – 30 3/8″ Arms – 74 6/8″ Wing
His second day on the under-performers list
King allowed too much separation between him and the receiver today. He was instantly beat off the snap in 1v1s. Slow reaction off the snap and to breaks.
Bo Nix, QB, Oregon: 6’1″ – 218 Pounds – 9 7/8″ Hands – 74 3/8″ Wing
Inconsistent with ball placement
Multiple times, Nix overshot his wide receiver or constantly under-threw balls. The thing that stood out was he showed more hesitancy in his release during the breaks of a route.
Joe Milton, QB, Tennessee: 6’5″ – 235 Pounds – 10 3/8″ Hands – 80 5/8″ Wing
Bad overall decision making
Milton had a rough day with his progressions. He was slow with his reads, resulting in a pick in the red zone. Inconsistency was the term for him today.
Kingsley Suamataia, OL, BYU: 6’4″ – 329 Pounds – 34 2/8″ Arms – 82 4/8″ Wing
Struggled at offensive tackle today
This BYU offensive lineman allowed multiple sacks and pressures, notably against Penn State’s Adisa Issac. The troubling thing was inconsistent hand placement and was quickly beaten outside on the edge. Even though he had a good first couple of days inside at guard, he struggled today at tackle.
Colton just graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science at the United States Sports Academy. He has previous coaching experience as a former offense and defensive line coach at a local high school. While performing those duties, he also worked at PFF(Pro Football Focus) for a brief moment of time. He currently develops scouting reports here at firstroundmock.com.
