Brock Bowers is back!

Just 26 days after receiving ankle surgery, the Georgia tight end is back on the field and contributing to his team’s undefeated record.

While Bowers was rehabbing, he teamed up with MET-Rx, a protein bar company.

The perfect partnership

“It’s a brand I’ve known and trusted for a while. It’s just played such a big role in my performance and recovery and everything,” the 20-year-old states. “Being able to have it on my busy days, like Tuesdays and Thursdays, I’ve got class pretty much all day, and being able to get that extra meal in is huge.

MET-Rx is a great option for not just athletes, but individuals of all kinds. The brand provides bars ideal for meal replacement as they each contain 30 g of protein and more than 17 vitamins and minerals

Bowers says his favorite is “Super Cookie Crunch,” which is part of MET-Rx’s Big 100 Bars. The line of bars is also available in flavors like “Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough,” “Crispy Apple Pie,” “Peanut Butter Pretzel,” “Vanilla Caramel Churro,” and more.

Why Bowers is the best man for the job

“As an athlete, I understand the importance of proper nutrition to accelerate muscle recovery and achieve peak performance. MET-Rx is a brand athletes can depend on for an assist to power through a tough workout or recover after a big game,” says Bowers

I think it just fits all the stuff I kind of embody,” Bowers says. “We have NOBULL, which is all about hard work. Working with MET-RX, it’s clean energy, high protein, and meal replacement. It’s awesome to work into my schedule day by day. It just fits right in with what I’m about and everything like that.”

As part of the deal, Bowers will endorse the brand on social media. Plus, he will participate in several charitable and promotional events, according to Sports Illustrated.

Making the best of his injury

Amie Testerman, VP of marketing and innovation at MET-Rx parent company 1440 Foods, explained why the brand is excited to be partnering with Bowers.

“Brock is an inspiration to so many people today, not only for his extraordinary performance on the field but also for his character and work ethic,” Testerman stated to Nutrition Insight. “He models good sportsmanship, and always goes the extra mile — pushing his limits in training, leading his team to game wins, and juggling his jam-packed schedule of classes.”

Testerman said to On3 that the brand did not partner with Bowers specifically because of his injury. However, she mentioned that she wanted MET-Rx to be a part of Bowers’ return to the field.

She explains that someone like Brock, who is so busy, is “relatable and inspiring to so many people who are busy and have active lifestyles which often cause them to miss meals or turn to empty calorie snacks to get through their day,” Testerman tells Nutrition Insight.

Overall, this is definitely one of Bowers’ coolest deals yet. To be able to tie a brand to a comeback is not only unique but also a great way to return to the Bulldogs.
