Shedeur Sanders Admits Struggling to Read Defense “A lot”

Reading Time: < 1 minute

As a former NFL Scout, I’ve come under tremendous heat on social media for suggesting Colorado quarterback (QB) Shedeur Sanders is struggling to read defenses in a recent article.

Now Sanders himself has come out and admitted that happened against Nebraska?

Sanders had a question directed at him by the Denver Post’s Sean Keeler after the Nebraska game, “You talked about last week leaving plays on the field and you mentioned some things you wanted to clean up, how many did you leave on this one and what grade do you give the offense relative to what it could be?”

“Yeah no, it was real bad today, I’m not going to lie, it was bad, a lot of mental errors, a lot of misreading, missed throws, Sanders responded.

Another piece of the draft puzzle for Sanders

Every piece of information is useful in the evaluation process.

Playing QB in the NFL is all about reading defenses and pass coverages. The fact he is struggling to do that at the college level is concerning when projecting him to the NFL.

There’s no question he’s been good for Colorado University and good for college football itself. However, this undoubtedly will impact his draft stock.

This was one of the biggest questions I had on Sanders and I appreciate him answering that.
