Jeff Sims Scores Big as Amigos’ Newest NIL Star
Jeff Sims is solidifying his presence in the world of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). Not only has the Nebraska quarterback (QB) partnered with Amigos/Kings Classic, but the deal also includes a signature combo meal and a commercial. This will air on all regional television stations, as a Hulu ad and YouTube pre-roll, and actively shared and promoted on social media platforms. Fans can also find their favorite quarterback on several billboards surrounding the restaurants.
Founded in 1980, Amigos is a Mexican restaurant chain based in Nebraska with over 25 restaurants throughout the state.
Launched on Tuesday, August 29, the “Jeff Sims Combo” involves a soft taco and a crispy meat burrito. The deal lasts for the duration of the 2023 season, On3 notes.
Sims is also featured posing on the restaurant’s official website.
Getting comfortable in front of the camera
The commercial was released a week ago and features Sims introducing himself and explaining his unique menu item.
“I’m quarterback Jeff Sims,” the draft prospect says at the start of the commercial. “I love Nebraska because of the loyal fans for both food and football, that’s why I’m excited to partner with a long-time, Nebraska-based restaurant like Amigos.
“Making food from scratch is hard work, and Amigos isn’t afraid of it. Neither am I. I’m a dual-threat quarterback, so the Jeff Sims Combo has both a soft taco and a crisp meat burrito. It’s the best of both worlds,” he says as he sips on one of their signature drinks.
“We’ve enjoyed working with Jeff,” Jan Moore, Amigos’ vice president of marketing, said in the release. “He’s a great guy who is embracing Nebraska’s food and traditions.”
Several users displayed their excitement regarding the endorsement. One individual wrote, “Need that Nebraska Amigos shirt” while another praised Sims directly. “One of the best restaurants in the Lincoln area. Sims I am proud of you! Will celebrate with some soft tacos tonight!”
Amigos/Kings Classic also commented on their post, saying “T-shirts will be available soon only on http://Tasteofnebraska.com. Stay tuned!” It looks like Sims’ deal will be expanded even further.
In another comment, the chain shared the news that their food truck would be parked outside the stadium. “Come find us at our first home game,” they posted.
Sims displays determination and diligence
Pixel Bakery Design Studios was involved in the production of the commercial. In an article, the company noted the weather being a huge nuisance while filming. “Despite shooting conditions being challenging at over 100 degrees outside, the team managed to execute the shoot successfully.”
Some talent might have complained or insisted the shoot take place on another day. However, Sims appears to possess opposite qualities, demonstrating resilience and the ability to work under difficult circumstances.
Overall, the partnership is another great example of athletes having the ability to monetize their Name, Image, and Likeness. Doing so will create more buzz around Sims and bring in additional business for the restaurant chain. Not only that, the deal is a great model of how athletes and businesses can support their community and develop winning partnerships with nearby companies and organizations.
