Brock Bowers – Skilled and Selfless

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Anyone who knows anything about football knows there is more to the sport than just speed and precision. There are elements of teamwork and camaraderie, and players must have the ability to think about others, rather than just themselves. A certain University of Georgia prospect understands this and is proving his selflessness in more ways than one.

Bulldogs’ tight end Brock Bowers spent the weekend with kids who might not have found much under their trees.

Bowers combines volunteer work with Name, Image, and Likeness

Bowers is partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods and Associated Credit Union in terms of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) work. As part of the event, 16 kids were able to go on their own $300 shopping spree with Bowers, as well as former Bulldogs player, Malaki Stark.

Athlete or shopping consultant?

The kids had the opportunity to shop around at a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Georgia with each receiving their own $300 gift card. Bowers joined the kids and helped as what he calls a “personal shopping consultant.” You can find a video of the shopping spree here.

“Organizers of the event say the goal was to inspire and enable participation in youth sports,” according to Atlanta News First.

“We are so proud that Brock would volunteer on [an] off day to surprise a total of 26 deserving kids,” ESM’s NIL marketing agent Faryn Heatly told On3. “Several clients donated their own NIL money to this cause and additional funds were provided by brand partners including Associated Credit Union, Dick’s, Onward Reserve and Zaxby’s. NIL done generously and responsibly can impact lives.”

Aside from his volunteer work, Bowers is also making waves in the world of NIL. Other than Dick’s Sporting Goods and Associated Credit Union, the Bulldogs tight-end has existing partnerships with Morgan & Morgan, NOBULL, and Zaxby’s.

A rising star on the field and off

Besides his work with the kids, Bowers is demonstrating he is a humanitarian in terms of NIL earnings. Referring to his decision not to join a collective, Bowers discussed why others could benefit more than him.

”It was with the collective and they offered me a little bit of something,” Bowers said in a press conference. “I just feel like I have enough of my own stuff going that it can kick back to some of the other sports. Hopefully, some other guys can get the opportunity.

There was no question before whether Bowers was a solid athlete. Now, though, there shouldn’t be any questions about his values or who he is as a person.
