Antwane “Juice” Wells is taking his talent to a commercial with his newest Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal.

The South Carolina wide receiver isn’t alone in this deal, either. He is joined by a figure who might actually steal all the attention away from him.

Who is Wells’ business partner?

Wells and his puppy, Sosa have signed an NIL deal with The Farmer’s Dog.

You might recognize the company from their heartwarming commercial in last year’s Super Bowl.

Sosa has been by Wells’ side since he transferred from James Madison University to South Carolina.

“I obviously take my health seriously being a student-athlete, and I got to thinking that I need to do the same for Sosa, so he can stick around for as many years as possible,” says Wells.

A man’s best friend

He goes on to describe why he chose The Farmer’s Dog for his pup, “A dog is really a man’s best friend, and investing in their health is the most important thing you can do for your best friend.”

Fans can get 50% off of their first order with The Farmer’s Dog. All customers can also take a quiz so the food is personalized based on exactly what your dog “wants and needs.”

The deal was made with the help of Park Avenue agent Chaise Belt. He told On3.com, “If you follow Juice on social media you’ve definitely seen Sosa. He truly cares for and loves him. They really are best friends.”

The problem with the majority of dog food

The Farmer’s Dog co-founder, Brett Podolsky struggled to find a suitable food option for his dog, Jada. She suffered from digestive issues for the first two years of her life no matter what food she ate.

Once Podolsky realized that pet food marketing was “masking an alarming reality,” he knew he wanted to make a difference. Most dog foods contain harmful ingredients that lead to dental disease and obesity. Others feature additives that are not listed on the bag, yet used in the meal. Podolsky partnered with friend Jonathan Regev (and his dog, Buddy) to create a business that he hoped would exist for their pups.

Today, the company’s team has grown from two friends to hundreds of employees with millions of meals delivered every month. They offer flavors for every pup out there and even include information for feeding pups depending on their breed.

South Carolina’s leading receiver and deal maker

It is refreshing to see players participating in deals not having to do with expensive cars or luxury items.

Wells has experienced his fair share of NIL deals as he currently leads the SEC in Name, Image, and Likeness deals.

In that article, Sports Law professor Darren Heitner outlined all of the wide receiver’s 14 deals and even credited Park Ave. Wells is dabbling in everything from data management protection, a vegan restaurant, and a security system company.

Clearly, this South Carolina star player isn’t afraid to represent anything.

Even if Wells didn’t end up playing in the NFL, he almost certainly has a career in the media industry.

Victoria Jonach is an aspiring writer and media analyst fascinated in what kinds of activities players participate in off the football field.
