Brock Bowers is Taking His Future into His Own Hands

First Round Mock’s Victoria Jonach takes a look at what Georgia’s 2024 NFL Draft prospect Brock Bowers has been up to in the world of business.

Within the world of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), players can get caught up in the act of money-making. Athletes land deals, are rewarded financially or publicly, and the process can easily turn into a player’s sole focus. This can actually end up hurting careers by taking attention away from training. Instead, players shift their goals towards putting their face on a proverbial cereal box.

However, Brock Bowers is running an alternate route.

Why Bowers isn’t joining a collective

The 20-year-old has decided not to join any NIL collectives.

Instead, he is focusing on brand deals unrelated to the Classic City Collective that most Georgia athletes team up with despite “little doubt Bowers would be able to command a strong package from the collective,” On3 says.

There are several reasons for this including these kind of group’s usual emphasize roster retention. His decision also gives other athletes opportunities he doesn’t necessarily need.

Not only can Bowers’ money be used on other players, it can also be utilized as a way to recruit other potential prospects.

“It was with the collective and they offered me a little bit of something,” Bowers said in a press conference. “I just feel like I have enough of my own stuff going that it can kick back to some of the other sports. Hopefully, some other guys can get the opportunity.”

As of February 1, Bowers’ NIL valuation was $1.2 million. Clearly, he is doing okay without the help of any NIL programs. He works with Everett Sports Management (EMS), who looks for brand deals for the rising star.

“Brock embodies the values of hard work, humility and determination,” ESM President of football Dan Everett commented.

Getting the recognition he deserves

Since the start of his career with Georgia, he has partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods, NOBULL, Zaxby’s, Associated Credit Union, and Morgan & Morgan Law Firm. Even though he has cashed in on several marketing ventures, this Georgia star offensive player is definitely not greedy.

Bowers is coming off a great season with the Bulldogs. In their championship playoff game against TCU, the Georgia tight-end gave it his all, making seven catches and contributing over 150 yards.

Bowers has accumulated two All-American awards and recognition for 2021 SEC Freshman of the Year. In addition, he broke school records in just his freshman season. Due to all of his accomplishments, he shouldn’t have too much trouble with his chances in the 2024 Draft.
