In The Hunt For The Next Great QB: Jaren Hall

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Jaren Hall QB BYU-

Man, after the disaster of a quarterback class that we had last year, I thought that this year there would be someone to talk about.

Easier said than done.

I have still yet to find quarterback (QB) that has truly caught my eye.

The parody that exists in some of these “Experts” rankings on their draft boards is ridiculous. Most of them probably just copy and paste, stealing from each other, anyways…

Some just write stuff that sounds technical, but are completely off base, and is not even close.

The film never lies.

This is the reason I will stand by my conclusions, until the players themselves show me different. I don’t do politics, or play favorites.

At some point, I have to say something positive about a QB, right?

No really, I don’t.

Perhaps this could be that day, though.

QB1 evaluation

I have been pulling random names of QBs, and plugging in their film for evaluations. A real scientific search method, huh?

It is then I ran into this kid, Jaren Hall from BYU…Sitting there thinking to myself, damn this kid is a baller. Luckily, for your sake and mine, my evaluation methods are a bit more technical.

Hall is listed at 6’1” 205 pounds. Of course, by the time the combine rolls around he’ll have shrunk an inch. Hailing from Spanish Fork, Utah he stayed home to play at BYU, where he is a two sport athlete.

Heck, he is even local to me, just about an hour from my hometown.

The only knock on him so far, is that after taking a medical redshirt in 2020, he will be 25 years old by the time he is drafted in April.

I know, I know… I still haven’t said anything nice.

Let me give this a try.

Everything that I have seen from Hall, his mobility, ball placement, accuracy, especially his ability to throw on the run, is special. I actually think he just might have a better arm when he is on the run. In the Oregon game in this year, I watched him perfectly place two cross body throws and another where he was falling backwards off his feet. He made a couple back shoulder throws look easy.

Kind of makes me wonder why hardly anyone else is shouting his name, yet. I stress “YET”. Hall is my QB1 for the 2023 NFL Draft.

Hall does everything right, from going through his progressions and utilizing all the talent around him, which is what elite QBs do. Heck, he knows how to use his tight end.

Did I mention that in 25 career college games he has thrown just 10 interceptions?

In my last article, I compared Bryce Young to Johnny Manziel. That is spot on. You will never get noticed until you start swinging for the fences, which I have no fear of.

The next Russell Wilson?

We do not do milk toast at First Round Mock. It is not in our blood.

Hall wears the No. 3. This is because of the admiration and respect that he has for Denver Broncos’ QB Russell Wilson. I found that out only after I saw flashes of Wilson while watching Hall play. Just like Young being the next Manziel, Hall will be the next Wilson. Those are big words, but I have every bit of confidence that it is the truth.

Any of you guys out there that are hoping for your team to go after a QB like Alabama’s Bryce Young, I highly suggest that you checkout Jaren Hall in the game film links I have provided below.

I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Young ran out of weapons, outside of running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

Alabama is now eliminated from the SEC championship.

Coincidence?

Not a chance.

Draft projection: First-Round (15-32)

Note: He’s the type of QB a team will trade back into the first round, for the fifth year option clause in their contract
